Park Description
Teetertown Preserve:
Named after John Teeter, the builder of a nearby mill complex [c. 1810], the 302-acre Teetertown Preserve (formerly known as Teetertown Ravine Nature Preserve) is one of the most significant natural areas in Hunterdon County. A narrow dirt road surrounded by dense woods leads into a ravine along a twisting stream, with its waters cascading over rocks. The steep sides of the ravine, with its large boulders and rock outcroppings, contribute to the sense of solitude.
The Mountain Farm section of the preserve has two ponds and several fields. It also contains a stone farmhouse built in 1818. The park visitor center offers educational nature films.
The 233-acre Crystal Springs section is comprised of mature forest, active farmland, meadows, ponds, and the headwaters of the Spruce Run Creek in Hunterdon County. A connector trail links with the rest of the Preserve.
