Submitted by dhultgren07 on December 27, 2018I loved the first edition so much, I wore it out and had to replace it with the second edition. I'm glad I did! The second edition is great, because it covers hikes in all areas of Harriman and Bear Mountain Parks. If you are looking to start exploring further off the beaten path, this book is an excellent choice to give you ideas for numerous hikes that you can do all year round. Great coverage of the sites, history of the park, landmarks, mines, trails, and great map illustrations that complement the printed maps. Great bonus section of woods road walks/trail runs that will take you to unmarked paths that will pique your interest in the lesser known parts of this gem of a park. word of caution--you might want to laminate the cover with protective plastic to protect it against sweat, mildew, rain, coffee, and inclement weather. I ruined my first edition by not protecting it with a plastic sleeve or coating. The book is small enough to fit in a large pocket. Smaller than the New York walk Book and Harriman Trails book, this you can bring along with you. Highly recommended.
